Candy Cane Check Stop near parkland Village

On December 19, 2023, Parkland County Enforcement Services (PCES) hosted a Candy Cane Check Stop on Range Road 272, north of Highway 16 in conjunction with MADD Parkland. Candy Cane Check Stops are intended to raise awareness of impaired driving around the holidays and to remind motorists to drive safe, plan ahead and report suspected impaired drivers. PCES was joined at the Check Stop by numerous municipal and public partners, including Tuber Towing, Parkland Fire Services, Parkland RCMP, Alberta Sheriffs, Spruce Grove Enforcement and Stony Plain Enforcement. Throughout December leading up to Christmas, PCES will be hosting or supporting Candy Cane Check Stops in Parkland County, Spruce Grove and Stony Plain..






If you are on the roadways this holiday season, please remember the following:

  • Be alert and responsive when behind the wheel
  • Refrain from any activities that impair your judgement or ability to drive
  • Plan a safe ride home; use public transit, a taxi, or a designated driver
  • Clear snow and ice from your windshield and lights for better visibility
  • Pay attention to road conditions and safety warnings to keep an emergency kit in your trunk
  • If the weather is bad, consider revising your plans so you won't have to travel on icy or snowy roads
  • Report suspected impaired drivers to the police
