Wabamun Waterfront Park Grand Reopening Marks a New Chapter for Community Recreation

Parkland County proudly celebrated the grand reopening of Wabamun Waterfront Park on September 20, 2025, marking the completion of a transformative redevelopment project that enhances the park’s role as a vibrant community hub. The event drew residents and visitors alike for a day filled with festivities, including local vendors, bouncy castles, food trucks, live music, and a variety of family-friendly activities.

The revitalized park now boasts several exciting new features designed to enrich the visitor experience and support year-round community engagement.

Playground Enhancements

A newly updated playground has been installed, specifically designed with younger children in mind. This inclusive play area offers safe, engaging equipment that encourages active play and social interaction. Plans are already underway to expand the playground with additional structures tailored to older children, ensuring that families of all ages can enjoy the space together.

Upgraded Spray Park

The spray park has undergone a significant upgrade, featuring new interactive water elements that promise hours of fun during the warmer months. In response to community feedback, the spray park will now operate on an extended schedule throughout the summer—open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Sunday—providing more opportunities for families to cool off and enjoy the outdoors.

New Stage for Performances and Events

One of the most exciting additions is the development of a permanent stage overlooking the picturesque Wabamun Lake. This scenic venue sets the stage—literally—for future performances, cultural showcases, and community events. Its natural backdrop makes it an ideal location for concerts, ceremonies, and group gatherings, adding a dynamic new element to the park’s offerings.

Expanded and Maintained Beach Area

The beach area has been expanded to accommodate more visitors and improve accessibility. To maintain its cleanliness and appeal, Parkland County’s Parks team will now utilize a beach rake—specialized equipment that helps keep the sand pristine and inviting. This enhancement ensures that the beach remains a desirable destination for relaxation and recreation throughout the summer season.
