Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is a multi-disciplinary approach to crime prevention that uses urban and architectural design and the management of built and natural environments.

CPTED strategies aim to reduce victimization, deter offender decisions that precede criminal acts, and build a sense of community among inhabitants so they can gain territorial control of areas, reduce crime, and minimize fear of crime.

CPTED is pronounced ‘sep-ted’ and it is also known around the world as Designing Out Crime, defensible space, and other similar terms.

On March 1, 2024, a Parkland County Peace Officer stopped a vehicle for modified exhaust. The driver was unable to produce a certificate of registration and the officer was able to determine the attached license plate was not associated to the vehicle. Further investigation determined that the vehicle was unregistered and the driver had two outstanding warrants.

The driver was arrested for the outstanding warrants and issued a violation ticket and two written warnings.

A Parkland County man is facing numerous charges after Mounties seized stolen vehicles and equipment at a rural residence last week.

On Feb. 1, 2024, the Alberta RCMP Auto Theft Unit with the assistance of the Parkland RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant at a rural residence in the Parkland County area.

Police say as a result of the search, officers seized:

• A stolen skid steer
• Parts from 3 disassembled vehicles that were being re-sold
• A stolen and re-VINed truck
• A stolen and re-VINed trailer
• A stolen motor and transmission from a Ford GT500 Shelby Mustang.

The estimated value of the recovered property is around $90,000.

RCMP say Brennan Page, 32, a resident of Parkland County, has been charged with:

• Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime for the Purpose of Trafficking (x3)
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (x3)
• Uttering Forged Document
• Fraudulent Concealment

Mounties say Page was released from custody and is set to appear in court on Mar. 20, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.

Throughout November 2023, Parkland County Enforcement Services focused their presence through targeted operations in Acheson. Numerous operations were conducted in these locations in efforts to deter, disrupt and displace crime. With the help of Parkland RCMP who attended some of these operations, scores of warnings and numerous violation tickets were issued.

On October 2, 2023 a Parkland County Peace Officer stopped a Chevrolet Impala for displaying an unauthorized license plate. During a thorough investigation, the officer determined that the vehicle was unregistered, uninsured and had a salvage title.

The driver was served with a number of violation tickets and summons. The potentially hazardous vehicle was towed and removed from the roadway.

On October 2nd and 5th Parkland County Enforcement Services and the Alberta Sheriffs combined efforts in Acheson.

Joint Force Operations are an integral part of public safety within Canada. Sharing knowledge and information while building collaborative relationships are essential components of Parkland County Enforcement Services' operations.

In April 2023, parkland County Enforcement Services (PCES) became aware of frequent and repetitive street racing and stunting in Acheson. PCES responded by conducting frequent patrols and operations in the area. One such patrol on September 16, 2023, resulted in a summons (automatic court appearance) to a driver for travelling at 164km/h in a 60 km/h zone in Acheson Zone 5.

On July 4, 2023 while conducting a saturation patrol in a high crime area of Acheson, a Parkland County Peace Officer queried the license plate of a passing vehicle. After determining the vehicle was unregistered, the Officer initiated an investigation which determined the vehicle was also uninsured.

The driver was issued a summons for driving an uninsured motor vehicle and a violation ticket for driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

On June 28, 2023 while conducting a saturation patrol in a high crime area of Acheson, a Parkland County Peace Officer queried the license plate of a passing vehicle. After determining the plate was not registered to any vehicle, the Officer initiated an investigation which determined the vehicle was both unregistered and uninsured.

The vehicle was towed and the driver was issued a summons for driving an uninsured motor vehicle and a violation ticket for driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
