Parkland County would like to provide an update to Entwistle residents and businesses regarding the transition of telecommunications services in the community.

Current Status

ONET, the current provider of Internet, television, and telephone services in Entwistle, was acquired by TELUS in 2024. TELUS has advised that:

  • Television services ceased on July 31, 2026.
  • Internet and telephone services are scheduled to cease on October 31, 2026.

As a result, Parkland County initiated a competitive procurement process to identify a qualified private-sector owner and operator for the Entwistle Fibre Network. The successful proponent will acquire and operate the network and provide telecommunications services to the community.

Update on Procurement Process

The procurement process is progressing.

The County has received proposals and is currently completing its evaluation and negotiation activities. While work is advancing, a new owner and operator has not yet been finalized, and the County is unable to release details regarding proponents while the procurement process remains active.

We understand residents and businesses are seeking information about future service options and timing. The County is working diligently to complete the process as quickly as possible while ensuring a fair, transparent, and competitive evaluation.
