Through a public request-for-proposal process, Parkland County has initiated a project that will see through the conceptual planning and detailed design for the future redevelopment of Hasse Lake Day Use Park.
Hasse Lake is one of the County’s key day use parks that for many years has been a destination for residents and visitors to the County. Recently, this park has experienced a sharp decline in usership and this project is the first step in reinvigorating public and stakeholder interest in park use.
The project is being led by Parkland County Community Services department, and the plan will result in a long-term vision that will modernize park amenities, maximize recreational experiences for our residents and provide an appropriate level of service for County parks and open space.
Engagement Timeline
January 2025 - Focus Group Stakeholder Workshops
Our initial stakeholder workshop session will allow us to present findings to date, site inventory and assessment and our understanding of challenges and opportunities within the Park. We will also learn of each stakeholder’s interest in this park, known information from years past, potential partnerships between user groups, identify user group needs and gaps, assess existing and potential user conflicts and provide a clear and concise process for addressing and resolving them. The project team will facilitate a two-hour workshop with identified stakeholders. The results of this workshop will be that we create a “What We Heard” report.
January 2025 - Committees of Council workshop - January
The project team will attend the regular meetings of each committee of Council, including:
Agricultural Services Board;
Community Sustainability Committee; and
Economic Diversification Committee.
The purpose of the presentations will be to present:
Project goals, objectives;
Site observations, what we have learned from Administration;
A draft concept plan, identifying probable design elements that will be included; and
How the future plan will impact the County and its residents through the lens of each committee.
During the meetings Authenticcity will capture feedback on our recommendations. These presentations will be done prior to the concept plan being finalized and we will use the responses from the committees to inform our concept plan(s).
