Acheson Zone 3 Wastewater Rehabilitation
Project Description:
Rehabilitation of Wastewater System in Acheson Zone 3 with the goal of reducing the amount of inflow (rainwater) and infiltration (groundwater) that enters the system to reduce the risk of system surcharging.
Scope of Work:
Full investigation of inflow and infiltration sources including inspections and vapour testing for leaks and cross connections. Primarily trenchless repair of manholes and mains in 2026-2028. Will be some open cut excavations where necessary. Construction will be prioritized in a phased approach over 3 years.
Schedule:
Est. Start date: May 2025 – Fall 2028
August 11-13, 2025: Dry weather pending, Vapour Testing to look for leaks and cross connections – affected properties will receive several notices prior to testing
April – May 2026: Continued prioritization and design. Specialized contractor pre-qualification process
Summer/Fall 2026: First Phase of Construction
2027-2028: Continued Phases of Construction

All of Acheson Zone 3 is being investigated; further updates of repair locations will be posted when design complete and budget approved.

Updates:
April 2026: Design continues and contractor pre-qualification for 3-year term initiated.
Fall 2025 – Winter 2026: Field assessments including CCTV of underground mains and manholes completed. Preliminary assessment and prioritization in process.
Aug 2025: Vapour testing – see attached notices
July 2025: Manhole inspections and flow monitors in the system
June 2025: Consultant Retained and Project Kick-off
