  • Enhanced enforcement presence in Wabamun and Duffield

    Throughout November 2023, Parkland County Enforcement Services focused their presence through targeted operations in Wabamun and Duffield. Numerous operations were conducted in these locations in efforts to deter, disrupt and displace crime. With the help of Parkland RCMP who attended some of these operations, scores of warnings and numerous violation tickets were issued.

    These operations we're well received by residents in the area. Some of whom came out to talk with officers, helping build positive relationships within the communities.

    On November 9, 2023, Parkland County Peace Officers and Parkland RCMP members teamed up to conduct a document check in Wabamun. Increasing uniform presence is one way law enforcement can deter, disrupt and displace crime.

  • Document check leads to vehicle impound and arrest

    On October 14, 2023 a Parkland County Peace Officer conducted a traffic stop for the purpose of verifying the registration, insurance and operator's license. During the traffic stop it was determined the driver was suspended and further investigation determined the driver had outstanding criminal code warrants.



    The driver was issued a summons for driving while unauthorized and arrested for outstanding criminal code warrants.

    The vehicle was seized and towed.

    On October 14, 2023 a Parkland County Peace Officer conducted a traffic stop for the purpose of verifying the registration, insurance and operator's license.     On October 13, 2023 RCMP shared information with Parkland County Enforcement Services (PCES) regarding unburied copper wire being stolen from Burtonsville Rd. PCES conducted numerous saturation patrols over the weekend, in an attempt to deter, displace and disrupt criminal activity in the area.

    If you have information on this incident or need to report another crime, call your local RCMP detachment.

    On September 8, 2023, Parkland County Enforcement Services received information that ongoing and repadative criminal and nuisance behaviour was taking place on Rge Rd 31 near the north Saskatchewan River.     On August 6, 2023 a Parkland County Peace Officer was conducting patrols on Highway 16 in a high crime area. The Officer observed a vehicle travelling at 150km/h in the posted 110km/h zone and initiated a traffic stop. During the course of the investigation, the Officer determined the driver's license had been suspended in Alberta for "flight from police" and that the Driver had subsequently obtained a BC drivers license and continued driving. Driving while suspended is a traffic offence that is statistically related to crime.

    Subsequently the driver's vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days, the driver was issued a violation ticket for speeding and a summons for driving while suspended.

    On July 3, 2023 while conducting a saturation patrol in a high crime area, a Parkland County Peace Officer encountered a vehicle travelling at 142km/h in a posted 110km/h zone. The Officer initiated an investigation which determined the vehicle driver's GDL license was suspended.

    The driver was issued summons for driving while unauthorized and a violation ticket for speed.

    On May 26, 2023 Parkland County Enforcement Services received a complaint of an abandoned vehicle on Rge Rd 32A, south of Hwy 627. A Peace Officer started an investigation, locating the vehicle with two occupants inside. Further investigation determined the vehicle had been reported stolen in Grand Prairie two days prior. At the request of the Peace Officer, Parkland RCMP attended and arrested the two individuals for possession of stolen property.

    Further investigation found the vehicle contained: ammunition, firearm magazines, methamphetamine, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

    This is a great example of residents, Parkland Peace Officers and the RCMP all working together to keep our community safe!

    Our firefighters need your help – while our crews have been busy responding to wildfire in the County, we have also responded to four fires in the last five days that we’re concerned appear to be intentionally caused, in the area north of Highway 16 between Range Road 30 and Range Road 32. We are asking residents to be vigilant, keep their eyes open and report any suspicious behavior to the RCMP by immediately calling 9-1-1. There is currently a full fire ban in the County due to high fire risk.
