Project Description:

As part of an overall wastewater rehabilitation program in Wabamun, the sewage lagoon will be desludged. Desludging involves removing the solid waste accumulated in the lagoon cells to restore lagoon cell storage capacity and will enhance the wastewater treatment.


Scope of Work:

This project will involve the desludging of 3 anaerobic cells of the sewage lagoon. A contractor will be hired to remove the sludge and haul it offsite to an appropriate landfill. This project is expected to take up to a month to complete and may slightly increase traffic locally with dump trucks transporting the waste. All work will be confined to the Wabamun Lagoon property.

Updates:

October 2024: Contractor has completed all work and site has been restored.

September 2024: Contractor onsite August 23, 2024. Work will occur from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, 7 days a week for the project duration.

August 2024: Contractor onsite August 12, 2024. Work will occur from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, 7 days a week for the project duration.

June 2024: Contractor will be onsite in August 2024

May 2024: Contract awarded to KBL Environmental

April 2024: RFQ closed and evaluations for award conducted.

March 2024: RFQ (Request for Quote) issued for desludging contractor.

2023: Sludge survey and testing conducted. Consultant recommendations presented in a report.
